When to Paint

There is a misconception about the right time to paint your home.

Many people often say that they are waiting for summer before they paint their home. Summer is a great season to paint the inside of your home because the quick drying times allow you to complete the project sooner. When it comes to the exterior however, winter is ideal.

The slower drying times in winter will make for a better quality finish when it comes to painting the outside of your home. Exterior paint is designed to dry faster, because of the uncertainty of wet weather. However in the heat of summer, when working in direct sunlight, the paint can sometimes dry too quickly, and if it dries before you can lay the excess paint off the substrate, you will be left with noticeable brush marks.

So next time you are thinking about painting the exterior of your home, consider waiting for the cooler months.
